Oryana = Bar Paradise

As I was driving home from the gym earlier, I was thinking about what I wanted to make for lunch when I passed Oryana, the local health foods market here in Traverse City and home of the Lake Street Kitchen. The Lake Street Kitchen has the BEST sandwiches, wraps, and paninis around (except for maybe The Swan, which I'm sure I'll discuss in a later post). I quickly turned the car around and headed on inside.

I was feeling pretty simple today, so I went with a classic turkey and swiss panini on 7-grain. While I was waiting for my sandwich to be made, I wandered around the store. One of the things I love about this store is all of the FREE SAMPLES.

I may or may not have had two of these shortbread cookies.

After forcing myself to walk away from that darn cookie table, I eventually stumbled across the largest showcase of bars that I have ever seen.

Note: This isn't even all of them. I couldn't stand far enough away without bumping into the register to get them all in the picture.

I was pumped that I discovered this "Bar Paradise," if you will, because I have discovered a new love for LaraBars. However, most grocery stores do not carry a very good variety of these.

Oryana is not like most grocery stores.

At almost $2 a bar, I limited myself to four.

After I got home, I paired my sandwich with an apple and dug in.

I am not exaggerating when I say that was the best sandwich I have had in a LONG time. I know I"ll be visiting Lake Street Kitchen again before I leave.

Time to hit the showers because I stink like gym.
