It's pretty dark and rainy right now here in Grand Rapids, but it hasn't been this way all day. It was actually gorgeous outside this morning, and the perfect day to ride my bike to the gym :)
I was pumped to resume my regular schweaty work-outs after basically taking a week off because of my sclerotherapy. After arriving at the gym, I wasted no time getting my lift on. I did a modified version of the low rep routine I've been doing on Mondays (I did it today instead of tomorrow because I plan on biking tomorrow). I didn't really change anything; I just skipped all of the lower body exercises. In the end it looked like this:
After my lift I did 20 minutes of HIIT on the Stairmaster and then rode my bike home. I was a hot, sweaty, exhausted mess when I got home and I loved it :D I never realized how much exercising really affects my mood until last week. By the time Friday rolled around, I was starting to get kind of depressed and I couldn't figure out why. After calling my mom and talking with her about it, I realized that I had gone from working out hardcore six days a week to virtually nothing, and I'm used to those endorphins! It feels good to have them back :)
Grilling and a Movie
When Eric and Aimee got home from church, Eric got to work grilling us all some yummy steaks! Unfortunately I missed the memo about grilling for lunch (I thought we were doing dinner) and I had already inhaled my mid-day meal when I got home from the gym, but I'll be enjoying the delicious leftovers for dinner shortly.
He also grilled some corn on the cob on the side:
While he was grilling, I whipped up some lemonade to go with the meal.
Wait a second, how did that vodka get there?
What can I say, I like my lemonade to have a little kick to it ;)
I also like to open my eyes as wide as humanly possible while I pretend to eat corn on the cob.
After lunch, the rain started to come down and we decided to head to the movies to see The Hangover. It was funny, but as expected it was not as good as the first one. While we were there I enjoyed numerous handfuls of Eric's extra buttery popcorn, but I don't think I enjoyed it quite as much as he did.
Hope you are all enjoying your holiday weekend :)
