Now I Just Need To Do It Again

Hey folks! Guess what? Yesterday I stayed within my calorie budget for the first time in FOR-EV-ER. I’m so proud of myself!

Now I just need to do it again today. And tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day…and maybe I’ll actually drop a couple of el-bees instead of gaining them like I have been the last few months.

Don’t judge me. Nobody’s perfect.

Anyways, this is going to be another quick before-work update. I have to close tonight (blah) so I will probably not be posting again later. This morning I woke up and had a bowl of Kashi Go Lean! Crunch with 1/2 a banana:

Then I hit the gym and did a back and biceps workout followed by a 2.0 mile run on the treadmill and 10 minutes on the rowing machine. Since I slack so much on my diet, I always try to (sort of) make up for it by working my butt off at the gym!

After the gym I went to McLain Cycle and Fitness to pick up my bike (I broke another spoke, so annoying).

I haven’t ridden in weeks (not since I did yoga on the Musketawa) and I can’t wait to go on some long rides soon. My schedule has been kind of crazy since I’ve been home, but it should slow down during the last couple weeks of July before my rotation starts in August.

Lunch was a leftover meatball sub (BTW, I said yesterday that they were turkey meatballs but they’re actually chicken. So good!!)

Plus a spinach salad:

(dried cherries, walnuts, sunflower seeds with raspberry walnut dressing)

I also packed up some dinner for my break at work later today. Yesterday my mom bought some organic spinach dip from Oryana so I spread some on Everything Bagel Thin along with some turkey and spinach to make a yummy little sandwich.

Plus some strawberries and corn:

Mmmm..looking forward to dinner already Winking smile

Off to the pharmacy to earn money for all of those awesome goodies that one of you is going to win Winking smile (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, that means that you haven’t entered my giveaway yet! Go do it now!)

Have a lovely day Smile

Who Here Hates Technology?

Ooooh oooooh *raises hand* I DO I DO I DO!!

Hopefully I finally figured out how to fix my Windows Live Writer problem I was having this morning. I actually ended up just uninstalling my current Windows Live Essentials program and re-downloading the latest version, and everything seems to be working so far. It even saved the post I had saved as a draft and planned on posting this morning. I thought for sure I would lose it, plus all of my other already-published posts that are in my WLW archives. So happy that they’re all thereOpen-mouthed smile<----- (Just discovered that the latest version has actual smilies!! You have no idea how happy that makes me!)

Alright, enough of all this technology talk and onto something much more important, my day! Mine started at the crack of dawn at 5:20 am. Now that’s early, even for me! I had to be at work at 9:00 this morning, which is earlier than usual, so I planned ahead so I wouldn’t have to drag myself to the gym after work like I did last week. For my workout, I went to a 6:00 spinning class at one gym (mine doesn’t offer any classes, boo) and then swung by my gym on the way home and completed this shoulder routine:

shoulder routine

I got this routine from the latest edition of Muscle and Fitness Hers in the Lift to Burn training program, which I am loving so far! It combines different numbers of sets, reps and rest periods to help you get the maximum calorie and fat burn both during and after your workout. Sounds good to me!

Eats from today!

Whole grain toast (with butter), dippy egg (seasoned with parsley, basil, cilantro, and salt & peppa), and a black cherry Chobani.

Lunch (packed and eaten at work):

Bagelwich on an Everything Bagel Thin with turkey, 1/4 avocado and a Laughing Cow wedge

Salad with spinach, dried cherries, feta, sunflower seeds, and raspberry walnut dressing

(Are you tired of seeing the same work lunch over and over again yet? What can I say, I know what I like Smile)

Mom’s homemade turkey meatball subs! With marinara sauce and sprinkled with mozzarella cheese:

Plus fruit:

These subs were so freakin’ delicious. This is definitely one of my new favorite meals. I predict leftovers for lunch tomorrow Smile

Off to go chill and watch trash reality TV. See ya tomorrow!

P.S. If you haven’t done so already, go enter my super sweet giveaway! You don’t want to miss out on this one!!

Need WLW Help!

This morning I went to publish my pre-written post for you all and I got this message in Windows Live Writer:

After some quick Googling I think it has something to do with reaching a 500 count image limit or something? Ugh, I don't know. I believe that I need to get an updated version of WLW to fix the problem (or at least this is what I gathered from various support forums) but in order to update my version do I need to completely delete my old one and redownload? Everytime I try to download the most recent one it says that I already have it.

I really did have an awesome post for you guys with sweet sweaty pictures from my mine and my sister's workout yesterday. This is completely throwing off my morning. I hate technology.

Please, someone who is better at computers and blogging than I am, help me!

I'll leave you with this picture as my apology for not having a post for you.

Off to work. Thank you blogging problems for making me late.

Perfect Evening

If there’s one thing that Jenny and I love to do, it’s eat sushi. Why mess up a good thing?

Same place we went last time, same wonton soup

same eggroll

New (delicious) Spider roll :D

Before we enjoyed our sushi, we went and saw Bad Teacher, which was hilarious. I absolutely loved it.

Great movie, delicious meal, amazing company, perfect evening.

Enjoy yours :)

This One Time, I Went Vegetarian

First of all, have you entered my giveaway yet? If you like nut butters, Larabars, trail mix, and/or candy then trust me, you don’t want to miss it ;)

I actually don’t have much to write about right now. I worked all day yesterday and while I have today off, I work the next six days in a row. I’m not complaining (hello time-and-a-half on the 4th!) but I’m just a little worried that I won’t be able to find time, let alone topics, to blog about. Please bare with me this week!

Food was pretty typical yesterday; my favorite overnight oats, usual work lunch, and leftover enchiladas.

I came home from work, watched the Bachelorette (seriously if Ashley talks about Bentley one more time I’m gonna punch the TV), and then hit the hay. Try not to be jealous of all of the excitement in my life.

This morning I woke up and munched on an egg bagelwich

And after I finish this post I’m hitting the gym with my sister. She wants her big sister to train her give her a basic beginner’s lifting routine so she can start doing some strength training. I’ll be sure to post it!

I’m off to enjoy my only day off this week, but I would never leave without sharing some more tangents about myself ;)

Triple Tangent Tuesday

1. Despite the fact that I don't like vegetables, spinach is the one food that I eat just about every single day. In fact, the only time a day goes by when I don’t eat it is if I’m out of it or I’m away from home. Like, seriously. I think it’s because spinach is the one vegetable that I kind of actually like, and so I subconsciously feel this need to eat a lot of it so I can at least try to meet my daily veggie requirements. My favorite ways to munch on the green stuff are salads, smoothies and sandwiches. I also love throwing it in stir-fries, omelets, pasta, lasagna, quesadillas, pizza and pretty much anything else you can think of.

2. I can’t leave the house without my watch. Unless I’m going to the gym or the beach, I feel completely naked without a watch on. I’m not really sure why, but ever since I was little I have had this obsession with always knowing what time it is. I also have this thing with keeping all of my old watches. When I was cleaning out my room last week, I found all of these in an old drawer.

3. One time in 7th grade, I decided that I wanted to be a vegetarian. That lasted all of about six months, until I decided that I really wanted a chicken patty. I did it for animal rights reasons, and I had a friend who was a vegetarian so I didn’t think it would be that bad. Nowadays, while I am not one of those “must have meat at every meal” kind of people, chicken and turkey are definitely some of my biggest sources of protein. I completely respect those who are vegetarians and vegans, it’s just not for me. Plus, I can’t imagine a life without my favorite Mexican meal of all time: pollo supremo.

Are you a meat eater? If you’re not, do you do it for animal rights reasons, health reasons, personal preference, or something else?

Healthy Berg Ultimate Giveaway

Morning folks! Hope you all had a great weekend. If you’re catching up on posts:

My Thank-You To You

I’m not sure if you all realize this, but I can honestly say that if it were not for amazing readers like you, I probably would have stopped writing this blog a long time ago. I love reading your comments, emails, suggestions, tips and recipe ideas and your support means the world to me. You congratulate me when I’m doing well and offer words of encouragement when I’m struggling. Whether I have great news to share, I’m having a bad day, or I’m just doing a plain old post about what I ate for breakfast, you guys are always there to read and comment about it.

Back in December, I started this blog as a way to document my progress as I continue on my “journey to lose weight.” Well, as I’m sure you are all aware, not much has been happening on the weight loss front lately (I’ve maintained my weight around 170 lbs for almost 7 months, but would still like to lose about 35 more pounds). I know that I haven’t been posting my weigh-ins recently (which I discussed in this post) and I do apologize for the lack of weight loss on this “weight loss blog.” However, part of the journey is learning how to keep the weight off and ya’ll have stuck with me as I figure out how to do that. In fact, this past month has been the most successful month yet here on Healthy Berg and it just makes me so happy and grateful :D

Alright, onto the good stuff ;)

As a personal thank you to all of you for being so supportive and such loyal readers, I am hosting my own personal giveaway (sponsored by me, myself and I) with a collection of some of my favorite things as well as a few local items from right here in Traverse City.

I threw in my three favorite Larabars (chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter chocolate chip and banana bread) and five all natural fruit strips of various flavors.

Can I just say that I wish I could win my own giveaway? Seriously, I love ALL of this stuff and I hope you do too!

Restorin’ Those Nutrients

Today was spent relaxing and trying to cram as many nutrients into my body as I could, since I most certainly did not get many yesterday. Some of my eats included oatmeal:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • dried cherries
  • cinnamon
  • cashews
  • 2 Tbsp PB

Plus the typical turkey sammie on an Everything Bagel Thin:

And salad:

(spinach, strawberries, walnuts, feta)

I’ve heard that going to the beach is a great hangover cure as well ;) What, you haven’t heard that? Weird.

I spent the afternoon soakin’ up some rays with my sister :)

And just to make sure I got in my exercise for the day..

Haha. Don’t worry, I only did that one lunge. I just like to do stupid things in public and get pictures of it for the blog. The things I do for you guys ;)

(Speaking of doing things for you guys, after the beach I hit up a couple of stores to buy some things for an awesome giveaway going up tomorrow :) You won’t wanna miss this one!)

Dinner was mom’s homemade “sour cream” enchiladas (which were actually made with fat-free Greek yogurt instead of sour cream) with refried beans and corn on the cob on the side.

Ashley got jealous that we were all out having fun on the deck after dinner so we let her join us :D

Oh, and you don’t have to say it. I already know that you’re jealous of my stylish T-shirt and basketball shorts.

Well, rumor on the street is that a Dairy Lodge run is in store for tonight, so you know where I’ll be :)

Have a great night and I’ll see you in the morning with that giveaway!
