Hey everyone, hope you’re having a great weekend :) Yesterday was a great day! We all had so much fun hanging out with our friend James who is visiting from out of town. Let’s get to it!
After we finished breakfast, we relaxed at our apartment for a little while as we caught up on each other’s lives for the past year. (Oh and yep, you guessed it; I never made it on that run!) By the time we we had all showered and gotten ready to start our day, we were hungry again. We quickly hit the road for our first stop: lunch at Yesterdog!
Yesterdog is a very well known hot dog place in Grand Rapids. Located right downtown, it is extremely popular and always packed with customers. The only downside? They only serve hot dogs so if you don’t like them or if you’re a vegetarian, then this is definitely not the place for you! Otherwise, it’s a fun place to take a group of people for some grub.
I ordered two cheddar dogs, which came with chili and cheese.
After we finished our meal, we headed over to the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. The Fred Meijer Gardens are full of gorgeous scenery and beautiful and unique sculptures. I have been wanting to go for a while so I was really glad we did!
It was the perfect day to explore the gardens, and we spent a good two or three hours walking around and seeing everything that we could.
This sculpture reminded us of pharmacy school:
And Eric had a vision when we passed the giant neuron sculpture:
We all had a lot of fun. It was a great idea to spend the day here!
When we were done at the gardens we are all roasting (it was 93 degrees and humid!) and I had only one thing on my mind: piña coladas!
After a quick stop at the store we headed right home to remedy that problem ;)
They were so tasty and refreshing after being hot and sweaty all day. However, we weren’t drinking for long before we realized that a jump in the pool is what we really needed to cool off! I didn’t take any pictures, but it felt great!
This plate was followed by one more small slice of pizza and another breadstick, and then some sherbet and a popsicle :)
We concluded our night with a beer at Founders downtown. I was a bad blogger and didn’t snap any photos (too difficult at night) but it was a great way to end our day with James. I’m so glad he came to visit!
Well, I’ve got a TON of stuff to do today and first on the list is hitting the gym and then getting some nutrients in my body! As you can tell from my recent posts, my eats lately haven’t exactly been admirable! In fact, while I was really glad I ended up wearing a skirt yesterday since it was so hot, I’ll be honest: the main reason I wore it was because my capris were a little too tight! It’s time to get my butt back in gear!
Have a splendid day and I’ll see ya later!
