Hey hey it’s Monday! That’s my lame attempt to try to sound enthusiastic . Although, I suppose Monday’s are not all bad. Sure, it means that there’s a whole five days to go until the weekend, but I always like to think of Mondays as a fresh start. It’s an opportunity to get the week going on the right foot, and, as Liz said in her blog, a chance to forget about how bad you screwed up on your diet the week before and just start over.
So, that being said, let’s talk about my Monday . Well, actually, I guess I’m actually going to talk about Sunday, since I didn’t blog yesterday (my apologies!). There’s really not too much to say, other than the fact that I woke up, made a tasty breakfast sandwich
(egg whites, muenster cheese and strawberry jam on toasted whole grain bread)
and then went to work for eight hours . We were fairly busy all day though, so it made the time fly by. My sandwich didn’t hold me over until lunch, so I munched on some fruit when I got hungry:
And lunch was salad:
Plus strawberry Greek yogurt and granola:
But the best part of my day was when I got home from work and my mom had dinner waiting on the table .
Chicken, cheesy potatoes, green beans and watermelon.
The green beans were sooo good. I didn’t even need ketchup!
Workout
Most of today’s eats were pretty standard and nothing too exciting, so let’s just skip to my workout. I didn’t make it to the gym on Saturday or Sunday because of work, but I definitely made up for it today! I warmed up with 10 minutes on the elliptical, then I did this leg routine that I got from Eric:
- Squats: 4 sets x 10 reps
- Leg Curls: 4 sets x 10 reps
- Leg Presses: 4 sets x 10 reps
- Calf Raises: 4 sets x 20 reps
- Lunges: 3 sets x 12 reps
Let me just say that my legs were literally shaking when I was done with this. I used to do lunges all the time, and my legs got acclimated to them and I stopped getting sore. However, it’s been quite a while since I’ve done them and I certainly felt it today! Walking is going to be a challenge tomorrow, that’s for sure. I hopped on the treadmill when I was done, hoping to bang out two miles, but about 30 seconds in I realized that was just not going to happen. I ended up jogging for 15 minutes and then walking for the last five as a nice cool down.
Dinner
Ok, so breakfast and lunch might not have made the blog cut today, but dinner certainly did!
I’ve expressed my undying love for my mom’s homemade pizza numerous times on the blog, but it never gets old!
I’m salivating just looking at these pictures.
Alright, well it’s past my bedtime and I still have to make my breakfast and lunch for tomorrow!
Have a good night
