Good evening lovelies . Hope everyone is having a great start to their weekend. I don’t really have any plans for the next couple days other than sleeping in (!!) and working on my formal case for my rotation, which I have to present on Tuesday. Of course I’ve been procrastinating, per usual, but I’m really planning on getting down to business tomorrow .
Some things I’ve been munching on today:
And lunch was the usual spinach salad:
(spinach, feta, dried cherries, and sunflower seeds)
Plus turkey, avocado and a Laughing Cow wedge on an Everything Bagel Thin:
Workout + Dinner
Today’s workout included some strength training followed by a little cardio, and looked like this:
- Incline dumbbell presses: 4 sets x 15 reps
- Overhead triceps extensions: 3 sets x 20 reps
- Lateral raises: 3 sets x 15 reps
- Vertical chest press: 3 sets x 12 reps
- Triceps pressdowns (straight bar): 3 sets x 20 reps
- 20 min elliptical
My parents met up with a couple friends for dinner, so after I finished at the gym I decided to stop by Oryana and pick up a sandwich to go for myself. I almost always get the chicken chipotle wrap, but I was in the mood to try something new tonight. I ended up going with the cherry BBQ chicken sandwich:
My sandwich had local baked chicken, cherry BBQ sauce, mozzarella, and lettuce on focaccia bread.
Unfortunately this sandwich was just okay. I would eat pretty much anything from Oryana (with the exception of tofu…it still freaks me out!), but I think the chicken chipotle wrap will always be my favorite.
No Sweets Challenge
If you’ve been on the Healthy Berg Facebook page today you may have seen my update about giving up sweets, and I did promise an explanation. Well, I was having a conversation with Eric last night about how my sweet tooth has been out of control lately and it’s really been holding me back with my weight loss. Seriously you guys, the pictures don’t always make it to the blog, but I’ve been eating dessert almost every day for the last couple weeks. It’s just become a habit, and we all know how hard it is to break those kinds of habits. This is not the first time I’ve had issues with my sweet tooth, and I’ve got to get it under control!
So, here’s what we came up with: No sweets period until I drop a decent number of el-bee’s. More specifically, until I reach a weight of 155 pounds. That’s the 10-12 pounds that I’ve gained over the last three months, plus ten more. Is this drastic? Kind of. Do I think it’s going to be difficult? Absolutely. However, I really need to wean my body off of this permanent sugar fix I’ve got going on here, and more importantly, I’m trying to set a good example for my freakin’ weight loss blog.
My goal over the next couple months is to have less pictures like this and more posts about working out, eating healthy, and weight loss. CRAZY, I know, but I never claimed to be perfect . But you know what? This is the reality of weight loss. It’s not easy, and everyone has their ups and downs. I know that I haven’t exactly been the best role model lately, but I hope that I can show people that it is totally possible (and even normal) to get off track, and then pick yourself up and get right back on board.
Also, I should point out that Eric has decided to give up popcorn during this “no sweets challenge” so I’m not suffering alone (ice cream : Krista as buttery popcorn : Eric). So on that note, does anyone else want to do the no sweets challenge with me? I think it would be sort of fun to help motivate each other, and people can post about their success/struggles on the Facebook page.
Let me know if you’re interested, and as always I’ll be sure to keep ya’ll updated on my progress .
That’s all for now; Berg out!
