Last night after I finished writing my Larabar giveaway post, Eric and I enjoyed some fabulous fajitas for dinner.
The fajitas contained steak that was seasoned with garlic salt and Tony’s Cajun Seasoning, along with sautéed bell peppers and onions. I don’t think I’ve ever had a fajita in my life that didn’t have cheese or sour cream in it, but these were so delicious that I hardly missed it.
After dinner we headed over to Old Chicago to meet a friend and enjoy a beer.
I opted for a Sam Adams Oktoberfest, and it was pretty tasty; but holy calories. According to My Fitness Pal, my 20 ounce beer was about 265 calories. I’m pretty sure I would have rather enjoyed a small bowl of ice cream for that many calories, but it’s all good .
This morning I woke up and ate a small bowl of cereal (Kashi Go Lean) before throwing my workout clothes on and hitting the gym. We didn’t need to be at our rotation until 1:00 today so it was nice to get up and get my workout done first thing the morning. Eric made a brutal shoulder routine for us that looked like this:
- Lateral raises: 1 set to failure (I did 25 reps)
- Overhead dumbbell presses: 1 set to failure (I did 30 reps)
- Front raises: 1 set to failure (I did 20 reps on each arm)
- Bent-over lateral raises: 1 set to failure (I did 25 reps)
- Overhead press (machine): 4 sets x 6 reps
- Reverse flyes: 4 sets x 6 reps
- Shrugs: 2 sets x 20 reps
- Shrugs behind the back: 2 sets x 20 reps
We finished the workout with 20 minutes of steady state cardio (elliptical for me, stationary bike for him). My shoulders are going to hurt tomorrow.
Post work-out snack/breakfast #2:
(whole wheat waffle with almond butter, blueberries and cinnamon)
(More lettuce wraps filled with turkey, provolone, and avocado)
And here’s our “we’re ravenous and too impatient to cook” dinner:
Two slices of veggie lover’s for me, enjoyed while watching American Horror Story on DVR.
By the way, has anyone else seen this show? It’s a new series that premiered on FX last night. We love scary movies so I was excited for a “scary” television series, and it was pretty creepy!
Time to get some work done over here. I’ve got some pages on the blog to update and some research to do for my rotation. Then it’s scary movie time!
Enjoy your night .
