Ready, Set, Bake

It’s been a baking party today in the Berg kitchen!

I decided to take advantage of my day off to do some Christmas baking that I’ve been wanting to do. I made two batches of cookies: white chocolate cranberry

(the same kind I made at Thanksgiving; I used this recipe and subbed in 1 cup of dried cranberries for the macadamia nuts)

And Jessica’s double fudge Oreo crunch cookies.

I made these cookies this summer before I moved back home and took a tray to my gym and to a friend’s party and they were a big hit. Also, this recipe makes the best cookie dough on this planet and that may have been part of the reason why I chose to make them…

It was quite a successful day of baking. I put together a couple of platters to take to my work and for my mom to take to her work, and froze the rest in Ziplock bags to save for my cousin’s engagement party on the 23rd and for Christmas Eve. Hopefully everyone will love them!

I know this is probably hard to believe, but I did actually eat something besides cookie dough today. After a quick workout at the gym this morning (arms & 20 minutes on the elliptical), I made a quick bowl of cereal

went to the orthodontist (had to get my permanent retainer re-cemented)

ran to two different grocery stores to buy baking ingredients

and came home and ate a slice of leftover pizza for lunch before I got started on the cookies.

Oh, and it actually started to snow this afternoon! The weather has been super rainy and dreary here for the past few weeks, and it was actually starting to make me depressed that we’re halfway through December and still don’t have any snow up here. Hopefully the snowfall that we got today will stick, and it’ll just keep on coming! Green Christmas’s are just not the same..

I only had one thing in mind for dinner:

KIDDING! But that IS the tray that I put together for my mom to take to work with her.

My real dinner actually incorporated everything that my body was craving after my afternoon cookie-dough induced sugar buzz: protein and veggies!

An omelet made with two eggs and two egg whites and loaded with sautéed spinach, mushrooms, and feta cheese.

I opted for this instead of a salad because this had a lot more protein and it honestly just sounded good.

I have a long day of work ahead of me tomorrow and then a fun weekend in store after that! Can’t wait Smile. Have a good night!

P.S. Does anyone watch the show Criminal Minds? I watched my first episode yesterday (re-run on AE) and I am totally hooked! I watched two more today and I’m thinking about setting the DVR to record the re-runs. I love it! I enjoy it more than Law and Order because I like that the crimes are actually happening during the episodes. In Law and Order, I feel like the crime usually has already occurred and the detectives are just trying to find the criminal. Of course, I only watched SVU and didn’t watch it very regularly, so I could be totally wrong about that!
