Cars are so annoying.
Today I went to get my snow tires put on for the winter, even though they are pretty much nearing the end of their life span. This will be their sixth winter, and I’m well aware that they need to be replaced. However, I am not planning on having my car for much longer than another year, so I really don’t want to fork over the cash for new tires right now.
Well, while I was waiting at Junior’s Tires as they made the swap, the guy came out and told me that one of my snow tires was not salvageable. I’m not sure what was technically wrong with it, but he did say that it would not inflate and it would need to be replaced. After calling my dad and promptly handing the phone to the tire guy (yes, I’m almost 23 and I still call my dad to make car decisions for me), I wound up with one new tire and three very old ones. Hopefully I’ll make it through the winter without any issues – I just need to squeeze one more year out of my car (and these tires)!
It didn’t help that I was already in a bad mood when I got to Junior’s (some events from this morning had really set me off), so the tire problems made me even grumpier. Needless to say, other than working out and getting my tires swapped I haven’t done anything productive all day. In fact, I’ve actually spent the last two hours plopped on the couch reading blogs and eating granola, when I’m supposed to be working on my clinical seminar project. Meh.
At least this little cutie always brings a smile to my face.

Like I said, I did make it to the gym this morning, so that definitely counts for something. Today I focused on arms and did the following strength training exercises:
- Dumbbell curls 3 sets x 15 reps superset with overhead triceps extension 3 sets x 20 reps
- Cable curls 3 sets x 12 reps superset with pressdowns 3 sets x 15 reps
- Hammer curls 3 sets x 12 reps superset with dips 3 sets x 12 reps
- Push-ups (on my knees) 2 sets x 15 reps
I ended my workout with 20 minutes on the Arc Trainer while reading about when it’s okay to boss your guy around in the latest issue of Cosmo. I’m not sure why, but I’ve developed an unexpected love for that magazine. It is seriously the best way to pass the time while doing steady-state cardio, and sometimes you pick up some useful tips .
After my workout I sat down for breakfast, which was an old favorite:
Remember when I used to eat these bagelwiches all the freakin’ time? Well I found a couple of Bagel Thins in my parent’s freezer that needed to be used up, so I knew I could take care of that .
Egg whites, raspberry preserves, and melty muenster cheese. Delish.
Lunch was leftovers from last night’s incredible dinner.
My mom sautéed a bunch of spinach and garlic and added it some whole wheat spaghetti noodles, which were then topped with salmon that she cooked on the stovetop and a little parmesan cheese. It was SO so good.
Add this to my list of meals to try to re-create when I move out.
Time to actually try to get some work done on my seminar project.
