Good morning and Happy New Year! I cannot believe it is 2012. So many amazing things are going to happen this year, and I can’t wait! However, graduation, becoming a pharmacist, and getting my own place are a lot to think about right now while it’s only January 1st, so I’m just going to take it one day at a time. I still need to pass clinical seminar (presentation is on Friday!! Eeeek!!) and get through the rest of my rotations!
Speaking of rotations, the last four months of mine are all located back in Grand Rapids! Yesterday my parents helped me move back down here, which wasn’t too much of a hassle because my bed and all of the other furniture is still there. We unloaded everything, set up the cable and internet, grabbed some lunch, and then I went on the grocery shopping trip of the century.
I was basically starting from scratch, so I had to buy everything. Totally worth it though; I love having a fully stocked fridge and pantry after a trip to the grocery store.
I incorporated some of my fresh produce into my dinner:
My mom’s leftover grilled avocado and red chili pesto enchilada from lunch (we went to On The Border), plus some sautéed onion and red and green bell pepper.
Sautéed veggies are so easy, delicious, and colorful and are a nice change from my normal spinach salad. I have a feeling these will become a staple in my diet this year. After all, one of my goals is to eat more vegetables.
After I finished eating I drove over to my friend Melissa’s to bring in the new year! I haven’t seen her in far too long, and now that we only live 40 minutes apart I am hoping that we will be getting together quite a bit over the next few months.
Also joining us for the fun were her fiancé, Nick, and their two adorable pups, Molly and Suki.
Such a cute family .
One of Nick’s friends also showed up later in the evening.
We spent our night enjoying wine and chocolate, playing some beer pong (apparently we are all freshmen in college again), and just goofing around.
Animal cracker S’mores, anyone?
Champagne at midnight!
Perfect way to end 2011 .
This morning, I woke up way too early after crawling into bed way too late, watched a little Project Runway, and then enjoyed the first meal of 2012:
Two eggs on a whole grain English muffin with two clementines on the side (another goal for 2012: eat more fruit with breakfast).
Time to get busy, I’ve got lots to do today!
