Dinner With Friends + Last Week’s Goals Chart

Hello and happy Tuesday!

Last night after my rotation I was so exhausted, but considering the fact that I hadn’t been to the gym since last Wednesday, I forced my booty over there. I had no specific workout scheduled, other than the fact that I knew I wanted to do cardio and I wanted to burn some major calories in a short amount of time. Probably no surprise that I ended up on the treadmill! I walked half of a mile, ran two miles, then walked another half mile for a total of 3 miles in about 37 minutes. Trust me, it was harder than it sounds.

I feel like I go through phases with running. Sometimes I think, “Man, I really need to bring it back. It’s the best thing ever for weight loss!” Other times – or most of the time, I guess I should say – I wonder why in the world I would ever force myself to do something that I dislike so much. There are plenty of other forms of cardio that I actually enjoy. Besides that, deep down I know that HIIT and strength training are the way to go for fat loss; if I could just control what I eat a little better, of course!


A couple of friends invited me over for dinner so after I finished my workout I headed over to their place. The meal was delicious!

She threw some red chili flakes on a couple of the pieces, and those were my favorite! I like my food with a little kick Winking smile.


I spent the rest of the evening hanging out at their place and catching up on blogs while they stressed about an upcoming journal club.

Like I’ve said many times before, I do not envy these guys right now. I’m so glad I’m almost done with school!!


So, remember last week when I posted that chart with my goals for the week? Well, here’s how the completed chart ended up looking:

Sunday and Monday were great, and with the exception of the package of Biscoff cookies that I ate on the plane on Thursday, that day wasn’t horrible. However, on Tuesday I ended up skipping dinner and grazing all day instead, and then ate way too many spoonfuls of my friend’s Biscoff spread later that night. Wednesday I went out for Mexican food and put back a margarita while I was out. Needless to say, I don’t have calorie totals for either of those days. Not surprisingly, my weight did not change from the previous week. However, if you want to get into specifics, I did lose and then gain about two pounds between Monday and Thursday.

I wasn’t planning on making another chart for this week, but being lazy is not a good excuse so I’m going to give it another go Winking smile. Even though last week’s chart wasn’t even close to being perfect, I am going to make it my goal this week to improve the areas that I didn’t do so hot in last week. Hopefully take two will be better!


Well I’m off to another day at my rotation, but before I jet I wanted to say thank you to everyone who wished me luck yesterday about my interview. It went very well, and I’ll be staying with the company that I currently work for. I’ll be starting as a grad intern after I graduate until I pass my boards, and then I’ll be a relief pharmacist covering stores in the northern region. Unfortunately, there are zero full time staff pharmacist positions available anywhere in the company, but we expect one to opening up at my store in the next year or so and when it does, it’s mine Open-mouthed smile.
