I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend. I’ve been having a blast up here in Marquette with this guy
but the best welcome in the entire world actually came from his awesome sister, Chelsey. When I got off the plane on Thursday, this is what I was greeted with:
She sure knows how to make a girl feel loved .
I didn’t arrive until after 9 that night and we were both pretty tired, so after a quick dinner (my favorite steak pasta!) we headed to bed.
On Friday, Eric had to go to his rotation in the morning so I went over to Chelsey’s apartment to hang out. She ended up having to work for a few hours, so I stayed at her place and helped her boyfriend, Kaina, get ready for her birthday party later that night. Before we got started he drove me to Subway to grab some lunch:
(same sandwich as earlier this week plus some Apple Crisps)
and then Kaina and I got to work. He cleaned up around the apartment
and I got busy in the kitchen baking her cupcakes. I learned something about myself that day: decorating cupcakes is most definitely not my forte. I didn’t realize that she had icing tips so I attempted to decorate them using huge tubes of icing, and, well, let’s just say they weren’t exactly the prettiest of cupcakes…
I texted Chesley a picture and she quickly told me to stop decorating and save the rest for her. It’s a good thing I did because the ones that she finished looked so much better.
After I finished up with the cupcakes, Eric and I went and saw a movie and then went to Red Lobster for some dinner before we got ready for the party. We started with drinks, biscuits, and Caesar salads
and I ordered the pecan-encrusted shrimp for my main meal, which was absolutely delicious.
When we were done eating, it was time to get dressed up and head back to Chelsey’s. She is amazing at planning themed parties, and the theme of this party was photo booth. She had a table in her living room full of decorations and sweet treats for the guests:
The photo strips on the front and side of the table were so neat; they were full of pictures of her and her friends:
She also put bunch of props in one of the rooms of her apartment and set up a spot for people to take goofy pictures. Everyone had so much fun with it.
The photo booth was definitely a success.
Eric and I also spent a good amount of time hanging out with all of her friends. Our beverage of choice for the night was wine, and that was probably not the best decision. It goes down way too easy…
But is oh so delicious .
Eventually we all gathered around to sing Happy Birthday to the birthday girl
But somehow I was so wrapped up in the party festivities that I didn’t even eat a single cupcake! Who am I?!
Some more snap shots from the evening:
We capped the night off with a stop at two of the local bars, but unfortunately no more pictures were taken. Eric and I woke up late on Saturday, got dressed, and immediately drove to Culver’s for some much needed greasy food. I got a cheeseburger for the first time in months and let me just say, cheeseburgers never tasted so good .
Have a great day and I’ll be back later with a recap of the rest of my weekend!
