Guess who went for a run yesterday?!
This girl!
I was originally planning on going to the gym yesterday afternoon, but when I stepped outside after rotation and saw that it was 80 degrees out, I decided to take my workout outdoors and enjoy the sunshine.
As you guys know, I haven’t really been running much lately (or at all, for that matter) because I kind of let the “it’s too hard” excuse take over my motivation. In fact, the last time I ran outside was the Turkey Trot in November. However – and I can’t believe I’m saying this – I do miss the sense of accomplishment that you get after completing a run and I really miss running races.
This summer, I’d like to do a sprint triathlon with a couple of my friends and while I’m not aiming for a specific time, I’d like to be able to actually keep up with them. Not only are they in better shape than me, but they’re both guys so I’ve got my work cut out for me! I’m not worried about the bike portion of the race, but obviously I need to work on the running part and don’t even get me started on swimming.
Yesterday’s run was just what I needed to start easing myself back into it. It was challenging and I was slow, but hey, you gotta start somewhere! I ended up running one mile, walking half of a mile, running another mile, and then walking the rest of the way home (a little over a mile). The weather was absolutely gorgeous!
My neighborhood is hilly and I got tired fast, but I’m happy that I covered over 3.5 miles.
Obviously since I ran/walked it, my time was nothing impressive but I’m not stressing about it. Hopefully this was the first of many runs this season!
Post run I enjoyed the rest of my chicken salad in the form of a sandwich along with a side salad.
I ended up adding a smear of light mayo to my sandwich because the chicken salad had dried up a little after sitting in my fridge for four days.
Greens for some veggie action!
Right now I’m hustling to get the rest of my things together for my weekend up north! I’ve got a full day of rotation ahead of me first, but after that I’m hittin’ the highway. See ya in Marquette .
