Happy Hump Day! Man, I cannot believe that it’s already Wednesday. For some reason this week feels like it’s flying by, which is funny because just yesterday I was complaining about how the weeks always seem to crawl by.
After rotation yesterday I made my return to the gym after a bit of a hiatus. Because I left on Wednesday to go up north, and because yesterday I was just lazy, it’s been an entire week since I’ve been to the gym. Don’t get me wrong – I definitely worked out while I was on vacation – but it felt good to step inside my gym again. I ran 1.1 miles (odd number, I know) and then did the NROLFW Workout 1A. After so many days off, it really kicked my butt!
On my way home from the gym I made a quick stop at the grocery store to pick up a few things to get me through the rest of the week. While I was waiting in line at the check out, I decided to whip out my camera and take some pictures of my groceries, and I thought I’d share them with you . It was not a full haul this week since it’s already Wednesday and I’m going home this weekend, but I still got some good stuff.
First up, lunch supplies:
I normally bring a sandwich, but I decided to switch things up this week and I’m going to try out a new salad. I’m thinking chicken, tomato, feta, and whatever other veggies I have thrown on top of some lettuce and tossed with balsamic. I’ll let you know what I think!
Also in the cart were ingredients for dinner that I made last night:
Plus Greek yogurt and English muffins (yogurt for lunches and English muffins to eat with eggs for breakfast)
And an assortment of protein bars.
I always buy four or five different protein bars every week because I like to sample different ones. I used to only like the Oh Yeah! bars, but lately I’ve really been enjoying all different kinds of protein bars. The two Luna bars and the Supreme protein bar in the above picture are new to me, so I’m not sure how I’ll like those yet, but the Chocolate Mint Cookie Crunch and Chocolate Peanut Butter Balance Bars are favorites of mine! The Chocolate Mint one tastes just like a Thin Mint cookie. Yum!
When I was done shopping I rushed home to get started on dinner. You already know that it involved ground turkey and mushrooms, but it also involved pasta! I cooked up the turkey and seasoned it with an Italian seasoning blend and a hefty amount of garlic, sautéed the mushrooms and added those, mixed it with almost an entire jar of pasta sauce, and served it over whole wheat penne.
It turned out great!
Last night was a night that I was grateful I have the blog. I was this close to throwing an Amy's frozen meal in the oven and calling it good, but I thought, “man, my readers are going to think I never cook dinner; I better make something!” Haha.
