Hello from Lansing!
I arrived here last night around 9:30 pm and will be staying until Monday. The main reason that I came was actually for business, but it’s an added bonus that Eric lives here! I volunteered to help run a health fair at one of our stores in the Lansing area tomorrow, but if I’m being honest with myself, chances are I probably would have ended up down here anyway even if I didn’t have work.
Before I left Traverse City, I had a few things on the agenda to take care of – namely a workout and an eight hour shift at the pharmacy. I made sure to head to the gym bright and early before work (like I have been doing for the past couple of weeks) so that I would be sure to get it done. I normally do cardio after strength training, but yesterday I had a leg workout on the agenda and wanted to warm up my legs before tackling the weights. I began with 20 minutes on the elliptical before completing the following booty-kicking workout:
- Leg presses 3 sets x 15 reps superset with calf raises (done on the press machine) 3 sets x 25 reps
- Leg extensions 3 sets x 15 reps
- Seated leg curls 3 sets x 20 reps
- Hip adductor 3 sets x 20 reps
- Pop squats 3 sets x 15 reps (here is a video demonstration of pop squats)
My legs were feeling the burn after this workout! Surprisingly, my booty is actually the muscle group that is the most sore today. Must have been the pop squats – they definitely target those glutes!
After my workout and a full day of work, it was time to hit the road for Lansing. Besides the health fair, I also drove down to attend a pharmacy law review that was taking place this morning at Lansing Community College.
Unfortunately, when we arrived we discovered that we actually had no idea where to go! The information that was given to us did not specify where exactly at the college the review was supposed to be held, and we found ourselves wandering around aimlessly and unable to get ahold of anyone who may be able to help us. Eventually we ran into a number of other pharmacy students from different schools who were just as lost as we were! While it was frustrating that no one knew where to go, we felt better knowing we weren’t the only ones who were a little lost.
By the time someone found out where to go, it was well past 9:00 (which is when the review started) and we really did not want to make the fifteen minute drive to the other LCC campus and walk in 45 minutes late. (Yes, there are two campuses. This would have been helpful information!) Since I already went to a law review held at my school last month and we both have review books, we decided to just ditch it and instead we hit the gym for a workout .
The workout was really tough and I’ll be sharing it with you next week because I may try to repeat it on my own. Eric cooked up a healthy lunch after our time at the gym.
Tilapia and salad!
He’s trying to incorporate more vegetables in his life so he’s been buying different ones and experimenting with them. This week he decided to try out collard greens and I must say, I was NOT fan. They were bitter and chewy and just blech. I try to be very open minded about greens – you all know I love me some spinach – but these did not win me over today. Perhaps raw is not the best way to eat them? Anyone have any suggestions?
After lunch we went and caught a movie
and now are just waiting for some friends to get done with work so we can hang out .
By the way, since when did movie theatres start giving out party favors? When we walked out of our movie we were greeted with employees handing us free granola bars.
I’m not complaining – I do love me some free food - but it just seemed so random!
Have a good night everyone and I’ll see ya later!
P.S. I apologize for no weight loss recap yesterday – I actually didn’t have time to write one! I weighed in at 188.0, which is 0.5 pound loss for the week but a 2.5 pound loss from the weekend prior. Told you it was a weekend of indulgence .
