Dinner at Harrington’s

Good morning and happy Saturday! I’m so excited that the weekend is here. What I am not so excited about is how gloomy the weather is looking right now. We have plans to go kayaking this afternoon and if the sun doesn’t come out sometime soon, our plans will be derailed for the second weekend in a row. Booo. Crossing my fingers that it makes an appearance!

Last night Eric arrived around 5:00 and shortly after that we joined my family for dinner at a new-to-us place called Harrington's By the Bay.

Oh my gosh, this place was great! Everything on the menu looked delicious and everything that we ordered absolutely lived up to expectations.

We were immediately served fresh bread, which was undoubtedly some of best restaurant bread I have ever had. Warm, garlicky, and chewy – just the way I like it!

We also ordered a plate of the Eggplant and Smoked Mozzarella to share.

The waitress said that this was actually her least popular appetizer, but we all thought it was yummy! Even Eric enjoyed it, and I saw him steal the last piece off the plate Winking smile. He’s trying to broaden his horizons and eat more vegetables; I’m so proud Open-mouthed smile.

I couldn’t decide between the Grilled Salmon Salad and the Pecan Crusted Whitefish for my dinner, so I ordered the whitefish along with a smaller spinach side salad. The spinach salad was essentially the same as the Grilled Salmon Salad, only it was smaller and did not include salmon. Perfect!

Spinach, strawberries, almonds, goat cheese, and a sesame vinaigrette – AMAZING. I would go back just for this salad!

My whitefish was equally delicious.

It was served with a cherry crème sauce that complimented the fish perfectly.

Everyone else loved their meals, too. Eric ordered the Gorgonzola Strip, which was cooked perfectly and got rave reviews from him.

We declined dinner at the restaurant, but don’t think for a second that I didn’t save room for dessert Winking smile. A trip to Dairy Lodge was definitely in order!

Saving sweets and other indulgences for the weekend (Friday night-Saturday) has helped me stay on track the last couple of weeks. I don’t feel deprived during the week when I turn something down if I tell myself that I can indulge once Friday gets here. It’s a good strategy that Eric and I have been working on together.

I’m going to go make us some breakfast and then we’re going for a run. Have a great weekend!
