Today is the first morning that I stepped outside and didn’t feel like I would melt in the heat. It was a cool and crisp 70 degrees and I was lovin’ it! I’m sure it won’t stay that way though, as northern Michigan has been hit with this crazy heat wave just like everywhere else. The humidity is what makes it miserable – temperatures in the 90’s feel like the 100’s because it’s so dang humid here. The summer months definitely make me grateful to be working inside in the AC all day!
I started my day off today like I do on most days – with a trip to the gym and a morning workout.
Today’s workout started with twenty minutes on the Arc Trainer to get warmed up and was followed by the following upper body routine:
- Pulldowns 3 sets x 12 reps
- Push-ups (on the Smith machine bar) 2 sets x 15 reps
- One-armed rows 3 sets x 12 reps
- Dumbbell presses 3 sets x 12 reps
- Overhead presses 3 sets x 12 reps
- Overhead triceps extensions 2 sets x 20 reps
- Bicep curls 2 sets x 15 reps
My arms were shakin’ when I was done with this workout. It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve worked out my upper body (I did legs the other day) and I was definitely feeling it today.
Post workout breakfast:
Over easy eggs + toast
Plus grapes on the side.
I’ve been working like crazy this week and I’m not complaining one bit. So far I’m loving being a pharmacist and it’s been making the days absolutely fly by. It’s so nice to be able to make executive decisions about prescriptions on my own, and to be able to help out guests without having to get “the pharmacist” involved – after all, I AM the pharmacist now! Haha.
I’ve still been enjoying the same old packed lunch I’ve been eating all year…
And snacks are pretty much nonexistent these days when I’m working. If there’s anything I’ve learned so far from being a pharmacist, it’s how to go long periods of time without eating and going to the bathroom. The other day, I ate lunch at 11:30 before work and didn’t get a chance to eat again until about 6:00, in which case I shoved a Larabar in my mouth in about 3 bites. Not ideal, but you do what you gotta do!
This weekend is the first weekend in a long time that I have no travelling, work, or study plans and I can’t wait. I’m hoping to get a couple of bike rides in and I’m also going apartment hunting and furniture shopping! Should be a great weekend .
Off to work – catch ya later!
