After a short shift at work this morning (I’m only working until noon today, yay!) it’s officially the weekend for me! Thank you so much for all of your helpful suggestions for Melissa’s big day. You all had some really great ideas!! I’ll be doing my best to help keep her relaxed and make sure she has everything she needs and hopefully the day will go smoothly! This afternoon we have appointments for manicures and pedicures (fun fact: I’ve never had either in my life!) and I was considering getting my hair re-colored, but I can’t really afford it right now. No big deal, we’re still getting our hair professionally styled on Saturday .
Yesterday was kind of a weird day for me schedule-wise. I’ve been travelling a couple days a week to work at other stores (something I knew I would have to do when I accepted the job) and yesterday I had an opening shift at a store in Gaylord, which is about an hour and twenty minutes away for me. It was a short shift and I was back home by 3:00 when I promptly passed out for a much needed snooze. When I woke up about an hour later it took all the effort in the world to get dressed for the gym, but I’m happy to report that I made it. I actually got an incredible cardio workout while I was there, too. Have I told you guys about my new
worst nightmare favorite cardio machine?
That would be a step mill. I was scared of these machines for years, but all of the female fitness competitors at my gym use them for cardio and they have always sort of peaked my interest. I finally got on one last week and have been experimenting with the different programs and levels. Today I did 15 minutes on the elliptical and then hopped on the step mill for 30 minutes of booty-kicking. I was *this* close to calling it quits before I was done with the workout – that’s how tired I was! When it was finally over I walked over to the stretching area and literally just collapsed. You know what that means – I’ll likely be making the step mill a regular part of my routine .
After coming home, showering, and eating a quick dinner (the last of my leftovers from Monday) I headed to the grocery store to stock up on everything I need for my weekend baking plans. As I mentioned before, the bridal party will be staying at my place on Friday night so I want to be prepared for that, and I also want to throw together an on-the-go healthy snack for Saturday.
I decided to bake a batch of cookies for the girls on Friday night to enjoy along with the Sangria you see pictured in the cart (I was going to try my hand at homemade but I didn’t want to spend the money). I chose this recipe for peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and I hope it’s a hit! I’ve never made them before so we’ll see .
I was thinking about putting together an appetizer tray as well, but since the rehearsal dinner is Friday I don’t think we’ll be very hungry once night time rolls around. I’m going to make my Greek yogurt pancakes on Saturday for breakfast (be sure to check out that recipe if you haven’t already – it’s the most popular post on the blog!), and for an on-the-go snack during the day I’m going to try my hand at a modified version of Anne P's peanut butter granola bars.
