It's always a little awkward jumping back into the blog after abandoning it for a couple months. I debated whether I should just blog like nothing happened, or if I should post some kind of recap about everything you've missed. In this case I'm going to go with the first option simply because as you probably could have guessed from yesterday's post, I'm not really in the mood to talk about my summer. Upwards and onwards!
First and foremost, I must wish a Happy Birthday to my mother! Unfortunately I have to work tonight and all weekend, but last night we all went to eat at our favorite restaurant, Apache Trout Grill.
My aunt, uncle, and Grandma joined us and we all had a great time chatting at dinner. The restaurant has changed their menu around a number of times over the past year, but yesterday I was thrilled to see that my favorite item that was previously removed has been brought back to life: the whitefish quesadilla!
It's a little different, but it's still delicious. The quesadilla contains blackened white fish, cream cheese, scallions, tomatoes, and black olives. It's fantastic! I tried some of the sour cream that it's served with too -- it's infused with some kind of lime flavor. Yum!
After dinner, my sister and I ran to the store before heading back to my apartment to get busy in the kitchen baking a cake for my mom.
We made her favorite - Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate" Chocolate Cake. There may or may not have been some batter licking involved.
We ended up decorating the cake with white chocolate chips. It turned out great!
I dropped the cake off this morning and we all sampled it. 'Twas delicious :)
Well, I was going to post a little more but I'm getting a little frustrated with this new blogging software I'm using. I recently purchased my first Mac and unfortunately I can no longer use my beloved Windows Live Writers to write posts. Sad day. I'm doing a trial version of MarsEdit, but so far I'm not loving it. Any Mac users out there have any recommendations? I'm still trying to get the hang of this new computer - it's so different from a PC!
